Havana Moon Lite, 5813
When designing this color, our goal was to provide the artist with an ocean of blues and greens when encased, while also allowing the artist to bring metals to the surface when unencased. Havana Moon Lite, 5813 was produced using a new Glass Alchemy technology, which enhances the reaction of the silver in the glass. We believe the artists will find Havana Moon Lite, 5813 to be a unique playful color that opens up color possibilities since the new technology makes striking easier.

The large bead is encased in clear after heavy manipulation of the color. The small bead is unencased. The goblins are both unencased.

Color commentary by Mike Shelbo
Havana Moon Lite, 5813 is a lush silver blue that will yield many finishes depending on how it is worked. The base color is deep cobalt transparent and will transmit blue, but if there is a slight hint of the silver on the surface, the color transmitted is a beautiful green-blue. You can use a sharp hot flame to burn off the silver haze to get back to the deep cobalt; otherwise, you will have many variations of milky blues and turquoise colors as well as pastel like greens and golden yellow streaks, which really become vibrant because they are backed by the dark blue.

For best results, work in a neutral to slightly oxidizing flame setting and not too close to the tip of the torch - unless you are trying to burn off the silver haze. Encasement in clear will trap wisps and streaks of metallic and fume-like blues and depending on how your piece is worked will change results with manipulation. Do not over reduce because once you get the color looking like an opal turquoise then you are about at the end of how far you want to push the silver.
