NEWS

Glass Alchemy Recycles

Glass Alchemy, Ltd. is a Portland BlueWorks Business, recognized by the City of Portland Office of Sustainable Development for going beyond recycling because we:

  • Have a green team.
  • Engage in at least six activities to prevent waste: minimize paper use, remove names from unwanted mail lists, keep mailing lists updated, reuse office supplies, buy materials in bulk, donate surplus office items
  • Purchase paper with a minimum 30% recycled-content, as well as four additional recycled-content items: glass cullet, envelopes, pencils, file folders
  • Have a purchasing policy in place for recycled-content products.
  • Engage in at least one activity that goes beyond waste reduction and recycling: 17% of our power usage is now wind, biomass and solar energy, and we donate $2.50 per month to the Nature Conservancy for Oregon salmon habitat restoration.
